Rangitoto Island Explorers

05/01/2011

Yesterday was Nigel’s last day on holiday, so we wanted to do something as a family. Sitting around the table discussing it a couple of days earlier, James (nearly 6) suggested a visit to Rangitoto Island, in Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour. Yes! None of us had been there before, so a quick phone call to book a tour, and we were sorted.

We caught a ferry from the city to the island, and then took a tour by road train (there were lots of families onboard with us – the hour hike each way to the summit would be too much for little kids). The road train stopped at a board walk, from where we climbed the last part to the summit (which James managed no problem, and Ollie needed a lift from his Dad for the last little bit).

Here are some pictures of our adventure:

It was such a great family day! Now we have another month of summer holiday before the boys start back at school/preschool. What shall we do next?…….

Looks like you all had a great day.
It’s sad the men are back at work today, it went too quickly.
