Lest We Forget

Today is ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) Day here in New Zealand and Australia, a day when we remember the servicemen and women who have given their lives and liberty so that we may have ours. This is a very big day in our family, and this morning our sons paraded with us at the Northcote Civic Service. We were joined by several of our friends and family, and also the boys’ school, which made this year more special than usual. Here’s a picture of my upline and wonderful friend Jacque, before the parade (thank you for marching with us this morning):

I also got to hang out with my special mate and former neighbour, Basil, who will be 90 on Friday.  He adds extra-special meaning to our ANZAC Day, as a WWII veteran.  His daughters took some pictures of us after the parade, so I hope to post one of those soon, too.

To those who made the ultimate sacrifice – we will remember you.

What a fabulous photo of the two of you! I don’t think your smiles could be any bigger. It sounds like you had a fabulous day. Gosh, I can’t believe it’s Basil’s birthday on Friday already. It doesn’t seem that long ago that he was celebrating his 89th. I hope he has an awesome day! x
